Dyane

My name is Dyane, and I am an Independent Sales Director with Mary Kay Cosmetics. Before Mary Kay, I worked in local government as a Principal Complaints and Policy Officer for the Director of Finance at a London council.

Over time, I became disillusioned with my experience in local government, and whilst carrying my third child, I learned of the Mary Kay opportunity. Actively looking for something new, I became a consultant because I realised that I could make Mary Kay work around the other things I wanted to do in my life.

I have stayed in Mary Kay through the years, as I believe in the opportunity. I have experienced huge personal growth during my MK career, which has helped me exceed my own expectations personally and professionally.

I have won prizes including topaz rings and bracelets - gifts that let me know that I am valued by Mary Kay in a way that local government never did! And I have the pleasure every day of introducing women to the products and company ethics that I love.

For me, Mary Kay remains as always, the great opportunity.

Mary Rose

Hi, I am Mary Rose. Before Mary Kay, I was a working mother with two primary aged children, a husband, and a dog. I was Deputy Head of a small Primary school, and out of all these commitments, you can guess that my job got most of my attention.

I joined Mary Kay because I needed time, flexibility and income. A year later, I recognised that I had a choice to make, between progressing my teaching career at the expense of time with my husband, children and dog, or choosing to develop my Mary Kay business, which I had been running at hobby level since joining.

I chose Mary Kay, and in my career as a Senior Sales Director, I have been driving a free car since 1996, and have been in both the Courts of Sales and Recruiting. I received Mary Kay’s highest award, Miss Go Give in 2008, and have won numerous trips to Dallas and a Caribbean cruise that I enjoyed with the husband that before I hardly ever saw. I have also travelled with Mary Kay to Portugal, Rome, Boston, San Diego and Mexico to name a few, and my highest monthly cheque from the company has been in excess of £3,000.

In enjoying all this from my business, I have remained in Mary Kay not only because I find working with women challenging and rewarding, but because it continues to give me the time, flexibility and income that I want. Above all, I now enjoy a life!

Yvonne

Before I began my Mary Kay business, I owned and operated two successful hairdressing salons. I didn’t wear makeup, had no idea about glamour application, and I enjoyed a comfortable lifestyle. My name is Yvonne and I am an Independent National Sales Director.

It’s a good thing we can only see the future one day at a time. My future changed drastically when my partner lost his property business in the early 90s. We owed school fees, mortgage payments, and each day was a struggle to keep the bailiffs at bay. My income from the salons was simply not sufficient to meet our financial needs.

When Mary Kay had their UK Grand Opening in 1993, I signed my Beauty Consultant Agreement and got to work. I had used the skin care on holiday in America, fallen in love with the results, and I needed the extra income.

I wasn’t an ideal recruit. I already worked six days a week and two late evenings. But I knew I needed the money, so I put my Mary Kay into my schedule and held classes on Sundays.

Little did I realize that my Mary Kay business was going to help me make all my dreams come true. Quickly, I learned that everyone loved the products and many of the guests at my skin care classes wanted the Mary Kay opportunity for themselves. Within nine months, I had promoted myself to Independent Sales Director status, and that was truly the start of my personal fairy tale.

Seventeen years later, I am living the dream with my Mary Kay business. I am blessed to work with amazing women who truly want to enrich their lives and the lives of other women. You can get it, if you truly want it.

Jumi

Hi all, I’m Jumi, a Sales Director with Mary Kay Cosmetics in the UK. I’d like to share with you, my Mary Kay story. I started my business in November 1999 and haven’t looked back since.

Mary Kay came into my life at a time when I was tired of juggling priorities and putting my career as a Teacher above my family.

I love the fact that with Mary Kay I can achieve financial and career goals without compromising on my family commitments. The flexibility gave me the opportunity to be a stay-at-home mum with an executive income.
10 years later, I have earned the use of four Mary Kay career cars, won cruises around the world, and all expenses paid trips to Dallas Texas four times.

What a fantastic opportunity! One where you can determine your own hours, your own pay, and be all that you were created to be.

Lisa Jean

Hello, I’m Lisa Jean. Born in the USA, living in the UK, I hold a BA and a Professional LPC in Law that I used in building a successful career with Pricewaterhouse Coopers as a Global Taxation Consultant.

My husband Simon, a Commercial Manager for Hoover Candy, was relocating to the Rossendale Valley, and this coincided with me re-evaluating my career and lifestyle aspirations.

Joining the company in February 2004, Mary Kay came into my life at just the right time. It offered me the chance to be my own boss, to work the hours I wanted, and to make a great income for myself, not profit for others. Empowering women really is at the heart of what Mary Kay is about.

I qualified as a Sales Director in June 2005, and over the last seven years, joining Mary Kay has proved the best decision I could have made. Not only have I won a fabulous diamond bumblebee as No. 2 in UK Sales, and a paid trip to our Dallas HQ, Mary Kay has given me the most precious gift of all: control over my own destiny.

Veronica

Hi, I’m Veronica! And I’m a Senior Sales Director with Mary Kay Cosmetics UK. My Mary Kay journey began in March 1996. I saw it as an opportunity to get quality products at a discount whilst having fun selling to friends and family, as I needed an escape from the monotony of my Accounting career.

When my husband and I decided to grow our family, my Mary Kay business then became the vehicle that enabled me to become a paid stay at home mother. Now that my children are a bit older, I’ve really been able to power on with my business, while still enjoying the best of both worlds.

I can be there for my children when they need me, (and when they don’t want me), while still pulling in a healthy income, and enjoying the other benefits that Mary Kay offers. I am a free car driver, a Dallas trip winner, and have enjoyed the recognition that comes with being in the Court of Sales.

I love my career because it allows me to work at my own pace without compromising on my values. But what I love most about Mary Kay, is that by sharing the Mary Kay opportunity I enjoy, I get to touch and enrich other women’s lives.

Jennifer

Welcome to our blog, I’m Jennifer, a Beauty Consultant with Mary Kay Cosmetics. What Mary Kay means to me, is opportunity. I’ve been in the business for eight years, and in that time I’ve enjoying being my own boss, while being recognised spectacularly for the work that I do.

I’ve been to Dallas on the company dime, enjoyed being on stage for the Court of Sales three times, and won numerous rings and jewelry courtesy of Mary Kay. I work the hours I want, when I want, and what I earn depends on how I value myself, not how others value me.

What a change from my previous career as a health care administrator. Long hours and static pay really sucked the life out of me, and it wasn’t until I was introduced to Mary Kay, that I found a profession that matched what I wanted out of life.

I have been building my business successfully for 17 years and am now a Senior Sales Director with Mary Kay Cosmetics. Before starting, I had very bad skin. I had so many sports I could have sold spots! I had tried expensive and cheap skincare products to no avail, and I wore makeup very badly. It consisted of orange foundation and red lipstick – hey, it matched everything!

Then my friend and recruiter forced me to try the products, and to my amazement I discovered that my skin was not orange, and I was not destined to have spots forever. In two months they had left me.

I had just finished my degree in Law and Psychology and was planning on studying further to teach Maths. I had large student debt, and I needed to earn some extra money to bolster my full-time earnings as a salon manager.

I only considered becoming a Mary Kay consultant because I was impressed with the products. I had no intention of permanently selling lipstick for a living. I gave myself 6 months as a team leader and then I would leave Mary Kay. I may have been a snob and broke, but I had a degree, and women with degrees do not sell lipstick…or so I thought. Little did I know this was the beginning of my PhD in business, and in life.

Since then, I have won the use of 7 free cars, countless diamond jewellery, and trips to destinations including the Bahamas. What I love the most about this business is that there is no glass ceiling. This is really a business where the sky’s the limit!

Jenny

Hi, I’m Jenny, and I work full-time as an Administration Supervisor for a delivery company. I enjoy my job, but unfortunately my 9-5 does not provide me with the income I need to live the lifestyle I want. In the past I turned to weekend retail work to make up the difference.

When I was introduced to Mary Kay and learned that the business was one that works with flexibility around your commitments, I realised that it could provide me with the supplementary income I needed, without taking over my life. I am now an Independent Sales Director who doesn’t have to work myself into the ground to make ends meet. I can earn more in one skincare class than I ever did working the whole weekend, and I have time to go to the gym and enjoy my life the way I want to.

In the process, I have discovered so many other things I love about Mary Kay beyond what originally attracted me to it. Mary Kay has helped me to grow as a person, and allowed me to help others do the same. There aren’t many jobs out there where you can feel the positive difference you can make in the lives of others; Mary Kay is one of them.
When I see what this business has brought to my team members, (women living their lives under money stress or lacking the self-belief to chase their dreams), it lets me know that I am doing something truly worthwhile. Mostly powerfully, it has helped me to help my son become self-employed at a time where there are not jobs out there for his age group (20-25). He has seen me making my dreams come true through Mary Kay, and it has inspired him to become a carpenter and joiner, something he loves.

I enjoy what I do, and that makes all the difference: Mary Kay doesn’t feel like work to me, it feels like going to a party with the girls…one I get paid for!

Vern

I’m Vern, a 50 year-old mother of 4 and grandmother of 4. I worked for Nat West Bank for 14 years in various roles as Finance Assistant, Accounts Payable Officer and Data Integrity Consultant before I became a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant.

I became a consultant because I wanted to be my own boss, to call the shots and be able to spend quality time with my children, something that my job at Nat West had slowly been taking away from me. I stayed with Mary Kay, because I found new confidence in myself as a businesswoman, in control of my own life, and rewarded handsomely for what I do.

I am now an Independent Sales Director, and on my way up the Career ladder I have been encouraged and rewarded at every level. I love that my opportunity to succeed in Mary Kay is only constrained by my motivation to succeed – this is the only career I know where you can promote yourself without having to wait for someone to leave or die.
